Capabilities / RF Welding
RF welding.
Sealed assemblies and fluid-path welds for infusion, drug delivery, and diagnostic devices.
How Emersion fits.
RF welding works from the inside out. A high-frequency field, 27.12 MHz on most production equipment, makes the polar molecules in the polymer oscillate against each other, so the heat is generated inside the material at the interface rather than conducted in from a hot platen. The die holds pressure while that happens and the two layers fuse. That is why it seals thin film that heat sealing struggles with, and why it only works on polar polymers in the first place.
We run the RF welding program for you: die development, first articles, validation, and released production against your print. One contract, one quality file, one delivery schedule, the same way we handle molded components.
Weld quality lives in a narrow window, and dwell time, RF power, die pressure, and material thickness all move it. So the weld gets qualified before it runs, and verification is matched to what the seal actually has to do: tensile or peel testing where the weld is structural, pressure decay or dye penetrant where it has to hold fluid, dimensional and visual where it has to fit.
What we cover.
The materials, applications, and quality checks this capability spans.
Polar thermoplastics
PVC, polyurethane film and foam, PETG, and EVA blends. Polyolefins like PP and HDPE will not RF weld without a modifier.
Sealed assemblies & fluid paths
Bags and reservoirs, cuffs and bladders, and sealed housings across infusion, drug delivery, and diagnostics.
Validated before release
Weld validation, first article inspection, and documented release against your print.
